Would dual exhaust take away horse power from my dodge ram 1500 4.7 liter engine?

I wanted to add dual exhaust with flowmaster tips to my 2004 dodge ram, however ive read that it could decrease my mpg and hp. Any truth to that?

if pipe diameter is the same or slightly larger you will see an improvement.also a custom designed system from borla,flowmaster etc will also increase performance.
