does the 3.1 engine and trans have to be removed together?
The engine in my lumina has a bad rod bearing and I am replacing the engine with another of the same type. I have removed 6 bolts which bolt the trans to the engine. I removed the lower engine mount on the passenger side and the two dog bone engine supports
there are more than the three bolts hold in the flex-plate to the crankshaft for one. if all of the bolts are out of the bell housing, you should be able to slide the engine forward a bit and get the torque converter to clear the front pump and bell housing
